About the Job

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the Health Care Assistant certification program at a post-secondary institution, with tuition paid for by the Ministry of Health. You will receive a stipend of $24.80 per hour for 37.5 hours per week, funded by the Ministry of Health, while studying. Upon successful completion, you will commence employment as a Care Aide (LTCA) or Community Health Worker (CHW) in either the Long Term Care, Assisted Living or Home Support sector.

Requirements
  • Grade 10, including successful completion of English 10 or equivalency
  • Valid BC Driver's License

You must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and possess physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. The ideal candidate will also have strong organizational skills and be able to operate related equipment.

This is a casual position with Northern Health, reporting to the Manager. The facility is located in Fort St. John, BC. The estimated annual salary range for this position is approximately $51,000-$55,000, depending on the number of hours worked.
