About the Job


We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Technical Operations Manager to join our team at our Peterborough, Ontario location. This is a challenging, senior-level position that will require a solid technical background and extensive experience in the industry.



Job Summary


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership on key initiatives and normal operations, serving as the primary technical resource for the Peterborough team. Key responsibilities include:



  • Leading technical response to RFQs, including contributions to proposal submissions, costing exercises, and execution strategy development
  • Growing and leading the technical team supporting local manufacturing operations
  • Developing and optimizing processes to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Providing technical guidance on code and standard interpretations applicable to manufacturing scopes of work
  • Supporting resolution of emergent technical challenges during manufacturing processes
  • Liaising with Westinghouse counterparts on requests for support to other plants and global initiatives
  • Representing the Peterborough operation in customer engagements related to current and prospective customer contracts
  • Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering teams to identify optimum methods for manufacturing and resolve manufacturability concerns
  • Mentoring and coaching junior members of the team

Required Skills and Qualifications


To be considered for this role, you must possess:



  • A licensed membership in Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical preferred)
  • A minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in an equipment manufacturing environment
  • Experience in design of custom equipment, typically steel structures, hoisting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems, and shielded containers
  • Experience in design/fabrication of pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codes
  • Knowledge and experience working to nuclear quality assurance programs that meet CAN/NQA-1 requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment


Salary Estimate: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
