Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Fort McMurray Addiction and Mental Health Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to deliver exceptional care to vulnerable populations in Fort McMurray. As a vital member of our interdisciplinary Addiction and Mental Health TAWAW team, you will provide supports to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide evidence-informed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community.
  • Act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member.
  • Engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure.
  • Support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations.
  • Collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation.
  • Participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support, and engage in quality improvement.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with periodic review, consultation, and evaluation from a Manager or Supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in Addictions and Mental Health.
  • Concurrent capable.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) offers a competitive salary and a Fort McMurray Allowance, with an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is paid on an hourly basis for all hours worked.
