About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.

As a Health Care Social Worker, you will be primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.

Some travel will be required for this position.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. You will have 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience and knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

You will have previous experience working in adult community mental health and demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach. Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches for use with people with severe and persistent mental illness, such as Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Motivational Interviewing, is also required.

You will have demonstrated experience with group facilitation, ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments, excellent communication skills, and awareness of local community resources and agencies. A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are also necessary.

Hours
  • This is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly.
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $42.89.
