Health Care Social Worker

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary health care team, you will provide support to clients and families through therapeutic intervention to promote holistic functioning. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping individuals living with mental illness and experiencing significant functional challenges to participate and receive needed supports through group interventions in an outpatient and community setting.
About YouWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Health Care Social Worker who possesses a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. Your 2 years of post-BSW clinical experience will enable you to provide high-quality care to our clients. Your knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and previous experience working with clients with MHA's concerns will be valuable assets in this role. You will also have demonstrated knowledge of various treatment theories and practice of harmful involvement, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and stages of change. Your ability to use a client-/family-centered approach and complete biopsychosocial assessments will be essential in providing comprehensive care. Excellent communication skills and awareness of local community resources and agencies will also be beneficial. A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. HoursThis is a permanent part-time (50%) position, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with community partners and contribute to the development of group programming that promotes recovery and holistic functioning. Your skills in group facilitation and ability to work effectively in a team environment will be essential in this role.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $33.97 - $42.89. In addition, you will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
