Manufacturing Engineer, Nuclear Components

BWXT Canada Ltd. is a leading provider of nuclear power generation equipment and services. We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and refining manufacturing procedures, preparing and maintaining shop documentation, and assessing and resolving non-conforming conditions. This role will also involve supporting the shop through facilities and equipment maintenance, upgrade or installation, and designing tooling as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare shop routings for each component, reflecting the sequence of shop activities, and identify shop resources and fixtures/jigs/tooling required.
- Resolve non-conforming conditions identified by Quality Control, assess each case relative to control drawings, specifications, customer expectations, and quality standards.
- Develop and support shop procedures for various activities, including Fitting, Welding, Machining, Assembly, and Testing.
- Maintain realistic time standards as a target for shop performance and provide realistic durations for shop schedules.
- Maintain a database of machine shop tooling, consumables, and gauges, and provide records of past practices.
- Conduct pre-manufacturing product reviews, identify tooling and fixtures needed to support the work, and make adjustments to design or concept sketches as required.
- Design and draft tooling as required to support shop activities, including design analysis for strength using classical or Finite Element tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an appropriate discipline.
- P.Eng. - Mechanical or appropriate Engineering field considered an asset.
- 3 to 10 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with proven clear and succinct written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control tools and principles.
- Comfortable with common Microsoft Office software applications.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience in the Nuclear industry.
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D design software (or similar).
What We Offer:
