We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Stress Engineer to join our team at BWX Technologies, Inc. in Cambridge, Ontario. As a Nuclear Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural qualification of steam generators, heat exchangers, process vessels, and piping assemblies for new equipment supply or in support of field services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform numerical analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions.
- Provide input and support to Project Engineering, including input to set the design, preparation of calculations and reports to qualify the final design, and evaluating non-conformances as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
- Experience with finite element analysis and general purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
- Knowledge of nuclear plant functions and ASME BPV Code would be an asset.
- Proven problem-solving and organizational skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
