About the Role:

Centric Brands is a leading lifestyle brand collective that designs, sources, markets, and sells high-quality products in the Kids, Men's and Women's apparel, Accessories, Beauty, and Entertainment categories. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Fashion Design Director to join our team in Montreal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to inform product development and design decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the contemporary and lifestyle markets on a global scale, including current and emerging trends, consumer preferences, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Merchandise, Sales, and Product Development, to ensure alignment and consistency in design direction and product offerings.
  • Lead and manage a team of designers and design assistants to ensure timely and high-quality design deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of apparel constructions, materials, costing, and processes to ensure design solutions meet business objectives and customer needs.
  • Partner with sourcing teams to build-out core and seasonal fabric and trim palettes with an emphasis on quality and sustainability.
  • Participate in fit approval processes to ensure aesthetic and functional excellence in product development.
  • Collaborate with Brand on packaging requirements and seasonal product storytelling.
  • Build a cohesive assortment and ensure each product delivers on brand aesthetic, function, and quality.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's brand identity, values, and mission to ensure design solutions align with business objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure the design team remains competitive and innovative.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of related experience in Ladies apparel design, with a proven track record of success in leading design teams and driving business results.
  • Excellent understanding of the contemporary and lifestyle markets on a global scale, including current and emerging trends, consumer preferences, and market conditions.
  • Excellent understanding of apparel constructions, materials, costing, and processes to ensure design solutions meet business objectives and customer needs.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of designers and design assistants.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed design decisions.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of PLM systems and experience with technical drawing, CAD, and illustration.
