Facility Supervisor Job Description

At the YMCA of Greater Toronto, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facility Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities, including our pools, whirlpools, saunas, and steam rooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake preventative maintenance and repairs to building equipment, including painting, HVAC equipment, fire safety, and emergency equipment.
  • Respond to work orders and take appropriate action to rectify any problems, including coordinating with contractors.
  • Ensure the safe and continual operation of our facilities, including related equipment, chemicals, and cleanliness.
  • Assist with materials management, including ordering and replacing building supplies.
  • Provide support to the Facility Manager with staff recruitment, orientation, coordination, training, scheduling, and support.
  • Perform light duty cleaning, project cleaning, general cleaning, snow removal, and laundry service.
  • Ensure the safety of all members, property, and staff by following established Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School education; completion of courses offered as part of the Building Operator Certificate an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in skilled trades and/or building maintenance, preferably in one or more of the following areas: electrical/plumbing, operating engineering/pneumatics, mechanical HVAC, pool filtration/water chemistry.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR; WHMIS certified; other Health & Safety certifications and/or knowledge an asset.
  • Experience in pool operation an asset; Pool Operator Certificate preferred (certification must be obtained within first three months).
  • Excellent organization skills; basic computer skills (Excel, Email, Internet, Bldg Automation Systems).
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills developed through progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
