Job Title: Welder-Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Welder-Fitter to join our team at Soo Foundry & Machine. As a Welder-Fitter, you will be responsible for fabricating and repairing metal parts and products using various welding techniques and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret welding process specifications and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes to ensure accurate and efficient fabrication.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment to cut and shape metal parts.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify designs for metal fabrication.
  • Operate brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines to shape and form metal parts.
  • Fabricate and repair metal parts and products using various welding techniques, including oxy-acetylene welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and gas metal arc welding.
  • Determine weldability of materials and operate hoisting and lifting equipment to move and position metal parts and products.
  • Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
Requirements:
  • Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Industrial and manufacture experience.
  • Ability to interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • Ability to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, flame-cutting equipment, and other metal shaping and bending machines.
  • Ability to determine weldability of materials and operate hoisting and lifting equipment.

  • Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate.
  • Experience with custom fabrication, structural construction, fencing, balconies, stairs, and railings.
