Main Duties

The Responsible Gaming Specialist will play a pivotal role in advancing the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority's (SIGA) direction related to responsible gaming initiatives. This position will focus on enhancing SIGA's reputation for excellence and building relationships within the community, in alignment with SIGA's guiding principle of Miyo-wîcêhtowin.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing responsible gaming messaging during community events, such as trade shows and health fairs.
  • Creating and fostering working relationships with other responsible gaming health and education providers in the community.
  • Conducting patron interactions and facilitating voluntary self-exclusions (VSEs).
  • Hosting player events and providing responsible gaming resources, education, and services.
  • Planning and facilitating corporate-wide initiatives and programs for implementation at casinos.
  • Travelling to casinos to provide ongoing responsible gaming support.
  • Serving as the expert resource on responsible gaming to internal and external audiences, with a focus on casino employees.
  • Building effective community partnerships and networks.
  • Assisting with communications relating to responsible gaming.
  • Participating in the continued development and promotion of SIGA's responsible gaming strategy.
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates are subject to a background check and are required to obtain and maintain a gaming employee Certificate of Registration from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA)/Indigenous Gaming Regulators (IGR).

The minimum age to work in a casino or any area where gaming can be seen is 19 years of age.

Must possess valid Saskatchewan Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

Some SIGA locations operate in a high sensory environment. You may be required to work in an environment where you will be exposed to tobacco smoke, high noise levels, flashing and blinking lights, and a congested workplace. SIGA adheres to all occupational health and safety regulations and makes every effort to limit the adverse effects of these elements.

As our organization values employee and patron safety, SIGA has instituted a Drug & Alcohol policy for its employees.

Compliance with all regulatory requirements as may be applicable to your position, including but not limited to both SLGA requirements and the Anti-Money Laundering requirements set out in the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and regulations and policies made thereunder by Canada and FINTRAC.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in business administration with specialization in any of the following: public relations/communications, adult education, social work and/or health promotions, addictions, or human services.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience with business and work planning.
  • Knowledge of national and provincial programs and organizations related to responsible gaming.
  • Knowledge of national and provincial gaming standards and practices.
