Payroll Specialist

The Folks VFX company is a global leader in visual effects, with a rich history of delivering high-quality work for film, television, and streaming media.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive bilingual Payroll Specialist to join our Montreal finance team and help us maintain accurate and timely payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and process payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and North American regulations.
- Collect and track timesheets and audit them for discrepancies and logging errors.
- Stay up-to-date with payroll regulations and ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes in pay rates, benefits, and other compensation details.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual reports.
- Manage withholdings and ensure proper payment of governmental taxes.
- Process benefits enrollments and deductions, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
- Perform regular reconciliation of payroll accounts, insurance carrier invoices, and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and review payroll reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and deductions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of payroll procedures, tax laws, and employment regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Project-based industry knowledge is an asset.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is desirable.
