Job Summary

Steer Environmental Associates Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our team. As an Environmental Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental consulting services, including hazardous materials assessment, industrial hygiene, and environmental monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring, including soil, groundwater, surface water, and indoor air quality assessments.
  • Collect and analyze bulk material and air samples, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and analytical methods.
  • Perform compliance monitoring on abatement projects, including visual inspections and air monitoring.
  • Deploy radon monitoring instruments in residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional settings.
  • Prepare and interpret laboratory analytical data, and assist with technical report preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments, exposure control plans, and safe work procedure compliance documentation.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a scientific, occupational/industrial hygiene, or related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of local, provincial, and federal regulatory requirements for hazardous materials management.
  • 1-3 years of experience in environmental consulting, with hazardous materials/industrial hygiene/engineering technology experience preferred.
  • Eligibility for professional or technical registration/designation.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in adverse conditions.
