Forensic Engineer, Fire and Explosion Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Engineer, Fire and Explosion Specialist to join our Claims Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our growth and helping us better control claims management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate the cause and origin of losses, using a scientific approach to determine the root cause of damage.
  • Recreate the sequence of events that led to the loss, validating these steps with up-to-date scientific knowledge.
  • Document the scene and express your opinion on the probable cause of the damage, both in writing and verbally.
  • Contribute your technical expertise to help resolve disputes during claims.
  • Participate in joint analysis of specimens related to the cause of claims.
  • Record and manage the storage of specimens related to your files.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of buildings, construction methods, heat transfer, and the laws governing fire propagation.
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or relevant applied sciences, with at least five years of experience.
  • Membership in good standing of a professional order in the relevant scientific field.

Desired Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain the cause and origin of losses.
  • Ability to provide short but detailed reports or detailed ones for more significant losses.
  • Experience in insurance and as an expert before the courts would be a major asset.

Certification

  • The candidate must hold or be able to obtain CFI, CFEI, CFVI, or WETT certification.
