Job Summary

The Calgary Public Library is seeking a highly skilled IT Support Specialist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level support for endpoint computing, user training, and next-level support for IT Support Technicians. This role requires collaboration with various areas of IT to deliver exceptional end-user support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain endpoint devices, including laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, iPads, and other equipment.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to IT Support Technicians on assigned subject matter areas, ensuring the delivery of high-quality IT support.
  • Offer IT support to the Executive Leadership team, leveraging advanced technological literacy skills.
  • Develop and deliver IT training to library staff, utilizing a range of formats, including screen captures, videos, and presentations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of best practices and procedures for IT support services, ensuring seamless delivery.
  • Assist with the review and implementation of new images and hardware, as required, to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including logs, inventories, and other essential records.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant external IT developments through continuous environmental scanning.
  • Contribute to team goals and objectives, demonstrating a professional attitude and strong collaboration skills.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • IT certifications may be considered in lieu of a diploma.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Three years of recent, full-time experience in a directly related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable computer technologies.
  • Valid Alberta driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements.
  • Advanced technological literacy skills and strong knowledge of PC software and hardware.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in leadership and support, including coaching and training.
  • Superior communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
