Multi-Skilled Service Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Service Worker to join our team at The Royal Mental Health Centre. As a Service Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate documentation and secure unit access.
- Monitor patient movement, escort patients to groups and treatments, and supervise yard and common room activities.
- Oversee patient privileges, ensuring safe access to hospital and grounds areas.
- Supervise site visitors and assist patients with community itinerary and checks.
- Provide unit client support, including lunch service, hot water, and linen changes.
- Implement interventions and support diversional activities to enhance social and vocational skills.
- Assess and report interactions amongst patients, communicating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in searches and security interventions as needed.
- Assist with discharge planning and implementation, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
- Minimize risk to patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining awareness of client care plans and detecting changes in client status.
- Minimum one-year post-secondary diploma or certification in a health-related field.
- All mandatory training requirements upon hire.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check – vulnerable sector.
- Possession of a valid G driver's license.
- Previous experience working with individuals with mental illness is preferred.
- Familiarity with infection control principles and use of personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingualism is an asset.
