Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Service Worker to join our team at The Royal Mental Health Centre. As a Service Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our secure treatment units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate documentation and secure unit access.
  • Monitor patient movement and escort patients to groups, treatments, and activities, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Supervise patients with privilege levels, ensuring access to hospital and grounds areas for programming needs.
  • Support site visitor supervision and assist patients with community itinerary and checks.
  • Provide unit client support, including meal service, hot water, and linen changes.
  • Implement interventions and support diversional activities to enhance social and vocational skills.
  • Assess and report interactions amongst patients, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Communicate with community agencies and families as directed by the team.
  • Participate in searches and security interventions as needed.
  • Assist with discharge planning and implementation, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
Requirements
  • Minimum one-year post-secondary diploma or certification in a health-related field.
  • All mandatory training requirements upon hire.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check – vulnerable sector.
  • Valid G driver's license.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with mental illness is preferred.
  • Familiarity with infection control principles and use of personal protective equipment.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingualism is an asset.
