Financial Analyst Job Description

Adecco Canada is currently hiring a dynamic Financial Analyst to join our client's team in North York, ON, and play a crucial role in enhancing financial analysis and cost control measures across the organization. In this role, you will collaborate with various business units to drive operational efficiency, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support key financial decision-making processes. You will also contribute to the operational success of the organization by providing insights that improve financial performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Generate monthly reports from the main ERP, prepare monthly and quarterly analysis for key financial drivers, and apply critical thinking to identify trends, assess risks, and propose innovative solutions to enhance financial performance.
  • Support the Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and administer production of monthly controlling and analysis reports and ensure appropriate submission to management while proactively identifying enhancements to reporting practices based on insights.
  • Review existing controls, provide recommendations, and support for the implementation of additional financial controls across the organization.
  • Document business processes and monitor changes within the ERP System, including Zycus, and SAP to ensure effective procedural outcomes.
  • Support in performing financial data entry into global consolidation and reporting tool. Actively seek opportunities to streamline and automate data entry processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations that identify economic and financial trend analysis. Outline actionable recommendations for operational improvement, risk mitigation, and efficiency gain.
  • Provide expert advice by demonstrating an understanding of full-cycle accounting and assist PCL business units with monthly budget tracking and resolution of P&L inquiries, preparation of ad hoc financial modeling analysis, and support with annual budget preparation.
  • Collect operational data and provide analysis to identify cost drivers and budget variances.
  • Develop and automate financial reporting and analytics processes using advanced Excel functionalities (VBA scripting, macros, complex formulas).
  • Assist with the preparation and review of routine and special reporting requests from the CFO.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, and/or related discipline is required.
  • Appropriate post-university qualifications in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Analysis, Controlling, Audit, or Financial Consulting are preferred.
  • Candidates will be able to show their understanding of general accounting principles and its application to their financial planning and analysis activities. CPA Designation is preferred but not required.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a Financial Analyst role.
  • Automotive industry experience with an understanding of Importer functions is preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in dynamic or fast-paced environments where independent decision-making, problem-solving, and taking initiative are valued.
  • Experience in an IFRS-based environment is preferred.
  • Strong SAP knowledge and experience are preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) are required, and advanced Excel skills (VBA scripting, macros, complex formulas) are preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently while demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset, using critical thinking to approach challenges, seek innovative solutions, and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Demonstrate a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement, willing to challenge the status quo to implement new and effective solutions.
  • German and/or French language skills are an asset but not required.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize, structure, and schedule tasks to maximize effort and meet challenging deadlines.
