Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of S7extekékstmen in the Office of the Vice-President Research (OVPR). This position plays a crucial part in advancing Indigenous research, community engagement, and cultural understanding at TRU.

Main Responsibilities

The S7extekékstmen will be responsible for:

  • Supporting Indigenous research initiatives and graduate students
  • Championing the advancement of Indigenous research supports
  • Implementing strategic initiatives to promote Indigenous research and community engagement
  • Reviewing Indigenous research administration practices
  • Leading community engagement and relationship-building activities
Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Lived experience of Secwépemc and Indigenous worldviews, cultures, and values
  • Demonstrated work experience with Indigenous communities
  • Experience and knowledge in conducting community-engaged research in support of Indigenous communities, Elders, and partners
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Indigenous approaches to research, including Indigenous research methodologies
