Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiologist to join our team at the BC Centre for Disease Control. In this role, you will be responsible for provincial communicable disease control, environmental hazard surveillance, and outbreak investigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain surveillance initiatives to ensure accurate and timely reporting of communicable diseases and environmental hazards.
  • Ensure effective communication of reports to stakeholders, including regional health authorities, provincial and national partners, and healthcare professionals.
  • Critically analyze data to identify disease patterns and clusters, and provide recommendations for interventions.
  • Provide consultation services to regional health authorities, provincial partners, national partners, and healthcare professionals.
  • Evaluate existing programs and research relevant to the prevention and control of communicable diseases and environmental hazards.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Epidemiology or Public Health, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in public health, preferably in communicable disease surveillance.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in statistical software and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to upholding Indigenous rights and reconciliation, with knowledge of legislative obligations and provincial commitments.
