Job Overview

As a key member of our team, the Residential Route Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of residential routes within the branch. This position requires a strategic thinker who is committed to delivering exceptional customer service, fostering a positive work environment, and achieving contract performance targets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a staff of drivers and helpers, scheduling labor hours and truck usage, and ensuring sufficient daily staffing levels. They will also respond to customer and driver issues, perform route audits, and monitor the GPS system for idling and engine-off time.

Main Responsibilities:
• Supervise a team of drivers and helpers to ensure timely and courteous service
• Schedule labor hours and truck usage to meet targets
• Ensure adequate daily staffing levels
• Address customer and driver concerns
• Conduct route audits to identify areas for improvement and provide coaching to drivers and helpers
• Monitor GPS system for idling and engine-off time
• Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures related to operations and safety requirements
• Participate in accident investigations and property damage claims
• Plan for seasonal fluctuations in service by adjusting driver/helper needs and working with the maintenance department
• Develop and maintain relationships with contract contacts

Additional Responsibilities:
• Provide daily reports on contract deliverables
• Analyze productivity using GPS reports
• Conduct driver and helper interviews
• Observe on-route safety
• Perform afternoon check-ins for drivers
• Cover basic dispatch duties as needed

Requirements:
• Three or more years of experience in transportation/logistics, with a proven ability to plan and supervise others
• Class 3 driver's license an asset, but not required
• Prior supervisory experience beneficial
• Knowledge of hazardous materials, DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations
• Understanding of routing and re-routing techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficiency in MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong commitment to quality and safety
