Job Overview:

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team. As a member of the Regional Centre's Financial Services Management Team, you will be responsible for directing the operations and activities of the Payroll Division serving over 3,000 employees.

About the Position:

The Payroll Manager will oversee all payroll processes and ensure compliance with applicable legislation. This includes experience using SAP, understanding and interpreting Federal and Provincial legislation and regulations, as well as working with Canada Revenue Agency, Workers Compensation, Employment Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directing the operations and activities of the Payroll Division
  • Oversighting all payroll processes
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation
  • Experience using SAP
  • Understanding and interpreting Federal and Provincial legislation and regulations
  • Working with Canada Revenue Agency, Workers Compensation, Employment Standards

Requirements:

  • National Payroll Institution designation (CPM), Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of payroll experience, with a large organization
  • Minimum of three (3) years managing staff, preferably in a payroll or accounting setting
  • Well-developed decision-making and creative problem solving abilities
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory and team building skills

Benefits:

This is a non-union position offering a competitive salary range of $3,676.95 - $4,596.18 bi-weekly. We also offer excellent benefits, including comprehensive health and dental insurance, and a pension plan.
