Job Title: Household Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Household Assistant to join our team at Private Household. As a key member of our household staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our home.

Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors, dust furniture, vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture.
  • Housekeeping: Make beds, change sheets, distribute clean towels and toiletries, stock linen closet, and perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • Kitchen and Bathroom: Clean, disinfect, and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances.
  • Laundry: Launder clothing and household linens, mend clothing and linens.
  • Trash and Recycling: Pick up debris and empty trash containers.
Requirements:
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Setting: Employer's home.
  • Transportation: Public transportation is available.
  • Work Conditions: Ability to work independently, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, and overtime required.
  • Personal Suitability: Punctuality, client focus, dependability, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, patience, and honesty.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
  • Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
