Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Household Assistant to join our Private Household team. As a key member of our household staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our home, as well as providing exceptional service to our family.

Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors, dust furniture, vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture, make beds, and change sheets.
  • Household Management: Distribute clean towels and toiletries, stock linen closet, clean, disinfect, and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances, pick up debris, and empty trash containers.
  • Laundry and Alterations: Launder clothing and household linens, mend clothing and linens, and perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • Special Tasks: Wash windows, walls, and ceilings, clean changing rooms and showers.
Requirements
  • Work Environment: Ability to work independently, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, and overtime required.
  • Personal Qualities: Punctuality, client focus, dependability, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, patience, and honesty.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • We participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
  • We assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, such as housing, transportation, storage, childcare, and winter clothing.
  • We support social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • We recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
  • We support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.
  • We offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees.
  • We provide diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
Support for Indigenous People
  • We participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • We offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • We develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • We provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • We facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
