About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the position of Patient Care Coordinator at Burnaby Hospital. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for providing clinical supervision, guidance, and support to nursing staff and other clinical team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply established criteria and prioritize admissions/intake, leading and facilitating actions related to daily patient flow, plans for patient discharge, and appropriate patient placement/referral.
  • Supervise nursing and nursing support staff, coordinate the work of the clinical team, and monitor the quality of care and safety of patients.
  • Support quality patient care and excellence in practice by promoting interprofessional collaboration, team building, and staff education.
  • Identify learning requirements of staff, provide input into the development of learning objectives, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning opportunities.
  • Act as a point person for patients and families with concerns or questions regarding their care, follow up as required, and participate in or lead the investigation of complaints.
  • Collaborate with Quality Improvement, participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, and assist the Manager/Director with various tasks.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in the designated clinical area, including one (1) year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Clinical proficiency/expertise in the designated clinical area, ability to supervise and provide leadership, and ability to coordinate patient assignments and monitor staff workload.
