Job Summary

VG Meats is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regenerative Rancher/Farmer to join our team. As a key member of our farm operations, you will be responsible for implementing regenerative farming practices and promoting conservation efforts on our Ontario farms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage grasslands through holistic planned grazing to promote soil health and biodiversity.
  • Monitor ecosystem processes to evaluate the effectiveness of our regenerative farming practices.
  • Feed and tend livestock, ensuring their health and well-being.
  • Operate and maintain farm vehicles, machinery, and equipment to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of animals, taking prompt action to address any issues.
  • Set, monitor, and maintain water lines, airflow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops to create a healthy environment for our animals.
  • Clean stables, barns, livestock trailers, barnyards, coops, and pens to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Adhere to and abide by all Health and Safety rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Identify opportunities to increase abundance and grow food for Ontarians, aligning with our company's mission.
  • Work independently and/or with others in a team environment to achieve our regenerative farming goals.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Ability to take direction and/or make decisions on your own as required.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
  • Good work ethic and organization skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy to ensure the health and well-being of our animals and the quality of our products.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as needed.
  • No specific education or training requirements, but a college certificate or specialized courses related to farming, such as farm equipment mechanics, agricultural welding, tree pruning, woodlot management, etc., would be beneficial.
  • A course or certificate in first aid may be required.
