Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement effective safety strategies and programs.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and investigations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and trends.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize hazards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. occupational health and safety, environmental science, etc.).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification.
  • Experience with safety management software and systems.
  • Fluency in French and English.
