About the Role
As a Perinatal Nursing Specialist at Fraser Health, you will be an integral part of our inter-professional care team, providing exceptional patient care to childbearing patients and their families during the intra, postpartum and high risk antepartum periods.Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse with recent experience in perinatal nursing to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients and unborn babies on admission and at regular intervals, allocating them to appropriate care areas within the Maternal Program. Collaborate with patients, families/support persons, Physicians and members of the inter-professional care team to develop, implement and modify optimal patient and unborn baby care plans. Establish therapeutic relationships by demonstrating empathy, trust and respect, advocating for patient rights to privacy, dignity and access to information. Participate in care and discharge planning processes, ensuring effective care plan implementation and modification. Coordinate nursing care for patients, making referrals to the inter-professional care team according to established protocols and practice standards. Provide education to patients and families/support persons on topics essential to their health care and well-being. Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.Requirements
Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). One year's recent, related clinical perinatal nursing experience in the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current Basic Rescuer (Level C) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) Certificates.Salary and Benefits
