Job Title: Fire Inspector

Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a highly skilled Fire Inspector to join our team in Fire Prevention with Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency. As a Fire Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act and Regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct building inspections to ensure compliance with the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Identify and report on inaccuracies in property data.
  • Respond to complaints and concerns from the public and internal staff, and conduct follow-up inspections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all activities.
  • Enforce operational guidelines, occupational health and safety standards, rules, regulations, policies, systems, and procedures for safe and efficient fire prevention operations.
  • Review and coordinate the development of operational policies and guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Level 2 Fire Inspector Certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years' experience administering a Fire Safety Act and Regulations, Building Code Act and Regulations, and/or equivalent legislation.
  • Ability to demonstrate capacity and competency to inspect all buildings, structures, facilities, and occupancies by the National Building Code of Canada and National Fire Code of Canada.
  • Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to travel in a company vehicle. The position is permanent, full-time, and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
