Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a highly skilled Fire Inspector to join our team in Fire Prevention with Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency. As a Fire Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act and Regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct building inspections to ensure compliance with the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act and Regulations.
- Identify and report on inaccuracies in property data.
- Respond to complaints and concerns from the public and internal staff, and conduct follow-up inspections as needed.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of all activities.
- Enforce operational guidelines, occupational health and safety standards, rules, regulations, policies, systems, and procedures for safe and efficient fire prevention operations.
- Review and coordinate the development of operational policies and guidelines.
- Level 2 Fire Inspector Certification or equivalent.
- Minimum five years' experience administering a Fire Safety Act and Regulations, Building Code Act and Regulations, and/or equivalent legislation.
- Ability to demonstrate capacity and competency to inspect all buildings, structures, facilities, and occupancies by the National Building Code of Canada and National Fire Code of Canada.
- Valid driver's license.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to travel in a company vehicle. The position is permanent, full-time, and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
