Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BWX Technologies, Inc. in the role of Pressure Boundary & Analysis Engineer. As a key member of our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing pressure-retaining systems and components for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and leadership for complex mechanical engineering projects, including design, analysis, and testing of pressure boundary equipment.
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, including technical specifications, design reports, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including CAD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Commissioning personnel.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, including design reviews and technical presentations.
  • Prepare and verify project-level deliverables, including evaluations, reports, and assessments.
Requirements
  • B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Holds or working towards a current PEO license.
  • Typically requires 7 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Mining, Oil and Gas, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Demonstrated ability to support leadership on complex engineering projects and provide technical direction and decisions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (preference for Inventor/Solidworks) and FEA software (ANSYS APDL & Workbench, Caesar II, PEPS, AutoPIPE).
  • Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and other ASME Standards.
