BWXT Technologies is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to contribute to innovative projects within our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group.
In this role, you will play a vital part in the design and development of mechanical equipment for CANDU reactors and related systems. Your work will directly impact the production of carbon-free energy and life-saving medical isotopes.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to create designs for automated and semi-automated equipment using CAD software.
- Produce detailed drawings, layouts, and bills of materials.
- Provide support to Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing departments.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and industry codes throughout the design process.
- Proactively identify project risks and propose effective solutions.
- Engage with customer sites as needed to ensure successful project implementation.
Qualifications:
- Technical certification in Mechanical Engineering with relevant design experience is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in 3D parametric CAD software is essential.
- Strong understanding of drafting techniques and GD&T principles.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are crucial for success.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in mechanical system design is highly advantageous.
- Membership in a relevant certifying organization is a plus.
- Familiarity with product data management systems is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Nuclear Industry standards would be an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with project teams and customers.
