Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct care to patients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Care: Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with mental health and substance use issues, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
- Assessment and Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical and psychological needs, develop individualized care plans, and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including progress notes, medication administration records, and other relevant documentation.
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM). One year of recent experience working in a forensic or acute psychiatric hospital setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills and Knowledge: Current and updated knowledge of changes and developments in the practice of psychiatric nursing and of applicable Federal and Provincial legislation. Broad knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral, social emotional, and mental health/psychiatric issues in adults. Demonstrated organizational, facilitation, decision-making, and leadership skills.
