We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct care to patients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care to patients, including assessing clinical requirements, developing care plans, and implementing interventions to promote physical and psychological well-being.
- Collect and document patient health care information, maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing observations, interventions, and evaluations.
- Consult with nurses, members of the interdisciplinary team, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care planning and coordination.
- Support patients with psychosocial, life, and personal care skills, utilizing accepted modalities such as teaching, guidance, and advocacy.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent experience working in a forensic or acute psychiatric hospital setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current and updated knowledge of changes and developments in the practice of psychiatric nursing and applicable Federal and Provincial legislation.
- Broad knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral, social emotional, and mental health/psychiatric issues in adults.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous-specific racism and reconciliation.
