Pastry Junior Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pastry Junior Sous Chef to join our Culinary team at the Wickaninnish Inn, a Relais & Châteaux property located on the stunning West Coast of Vancouver Island.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar position and be able to meet and exceed Relais & Châteaux and AAA 4-Diamond standards. They will be responsible for assisting the Pastry Chef with managing the day-to-day operations of the Pastry Shop, including production, staff supervision, training, and menu planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Pastry Chef in managing the day-to-day operations of the Pastry Shop.
  • Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Châteaux and AAA 4-Diamond standards.
  • Be an engaged participant and leader of a team that strives for excellence and delivers the best possible culinary experience to our guests.
  • Participate in events as directed by the Pastry Chef.
  • Attend Kitchen Leadership meetings on a weekly basis, as well as other meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar position in a fine dining establishment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to meet and exceed Relais & Châteaux and AAA 4-Diamond standards.
  • BC Foodsafe certification or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Journeyman/Red Seal Certification, Cook's trade certification an asset.
