Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker/Counsellor to join our Patient and Family Counselling team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our interdisciplinary cancer care team, you will provide psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families, working closely with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen, assess, and counsel patients and families regarding emotional and practical needs associated with their diagnosis.
  • Develop and facilitate group programs to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Provide consultation to other disciplines and work as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in planning and development of educational activities and quality improvement programs.
  • Provide clinical guidance to students and volunteers as required.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a social sciences discipline relevant to the job.
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience working in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Eligible for registration with a designated professional regulatory body.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
