Cancer Care Counsellor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker/Counsellor to join our team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families, working closely with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individual and group counselling to patients and families, addressing emotional and practical needs associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient-centred care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
- Conduct assessments and develop strategies to address complex psychosocial issues, working closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Participate in education and training programs, staying up-to-date on best practices and evidence-based therapies.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of care and compassion.
- Master's degree in a social sciences discipline relevant to the job, such as Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology.
- Minimum of two years of recent experience working in an interdisciplinary setting, with a focus on individuals, couples, families, and group work.
- Experience with brief evidence-based therapy models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systems Theory, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
