About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Controls Consultant to join our team at Co-operators. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls and risk management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage descriptive analytics to identify trends, gaps, or risks and design new controls based on audit results and industry best practices.
  • Gather statistics from various sources, maintain a central storage system for all metrics, results, and audit information, and develop tracking mechanisms to evaluate control design and effectiveness.
  • Act as the National Claims Privacy expert in Operational Controls, partnering with the Enterprise Privacy Office to address privacy incidents and breaches.
  • Prepare summary reports for stakeholders and share insights and reporting outcomes.
  • Provide input into communication plans and convey information to business partners and Distribution management pertaining to controls, data analysis, and key trends.
  • Maintain the integrity of audit databases, liaise with stakeholders to construct reporting metrics and measurements, and document process changes or recommendations based on post-audit reviews.
  • Partner with disciplines as a representative on Fair Treatment of Consumers, supporting education, offering guidance, and supporting on PIPEDA and privacy matters.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in Audit, Compliance, or Risk Management.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Expert knowledge of audit principles, control theories, industry standards, and methodologies, and working knowledge of Management Information Systems, compliance functions, data analysis, and integration.
  • Proficiency in English is required, as this position primarily works with non-francophone groups and teams located outside of Québec.
