Anishinabek Employment & Training Services is dedicated to providing support and services to urban Indigenous individuals. Our team works closely with community members to help them improve their mental health, reduce harm associated with behaviors, and avoid recidivism.

The Indigenous Peer Support Program (IPSP) Coordinator will play a crucial role in this effort. This position will work with an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and coordinate services and support for community members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide networks of support and mentorship to urban Indigenous individuals
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement services
  • Coordinate support services in consultation with community members and partnering programs

Requirements:

  • Preferred degree in Social Services, Indigenous Studies, or related human services field
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in mental health or justice services environment
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history
  • Knowledge of judicial system, Criminal Code, and related federal and provincial statutes
  • Experience working with high-risk clientele experiencing concurrent issues
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent case and file management skills
  • Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport
  • Group facilitation, team building, and decision-making skills
