Job Summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team in providing high-quality care to individuals with mental health and substance use issues. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide assessment, treatment, and follow-up services to clients and their caregivers.

About the Role

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to network with other services and agencies. You will have the ability to teach and provide consultation to clients, their caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical nursing services on a case management basis to clients and their caregivers
  • Complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions
  • Carry out treatment plans and interventions, including administering prescribed psychotropic medication and monitoring its effects
  • Provide education on mental health and substance use issues to professionals and caregivers
  • Collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues and adjust care plans as required

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:
  • A current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
