Job Summary:

We are seeking an Indigenous Environmental Liaison Specialist to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As an Indigenous Environmental Liaison Specialist, you will be responsible for providing an Indigenous perspective to environmental field activities and identifying Indigenous Knowledges and values to be included in Environmental/Impact Assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and communicate with First Nations, Indigenous communities, and organizations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Indigenous consultation and engagement.
  • Participate in field surveys in line with previous experience and areas of interest.
  • Completion of detailed field notes, daily reports, forms, and checklists.
  • Gather Indigenous and Traditional Knowledge to weave into EA/IA reports.
  • Ability to identify local protocols and provide relevant direction to field staff.

Requirements:

  • Indigenous Traditional Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous worldview.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, or similar.
  • 1+ years of related experience in working with Environmental programs with First Nations and Indigenous communities, Environmental/Impact Assessments (EA/IA).
  • Experience in Environmental Permitting is an asset.
  • Understanding of provincial, federal, and territorial EA/IA processes.
  • Understanding and awareness of Indigenous laws with a focus on Indigenous Knowledge systems.
