Job Summary

The Director, Human Resources is a key leadership position at Douglas College, responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance on all aspects of human resources and labour relations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HR and labour relations, with experience in a complex unionized environment. The Director will lead a team of HR professionals and provide expert advice to College leaders on HR-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with College leaders to understand departmental business and operating objectives
- Provide senior-level advice and guidance on human resources, employee and labour relations matters
- Oversee all labour relations activities, including collective agreement administration and grievance handling
- Lead contingency planning in the event of labour disruption
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of HR professionals

Requirements

- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline, such as Human Resources, Law or Business Administration
- CPHR designation
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible HR/labour relations experience in a complex unionized environment
- Excellent knowledge of current labour, employment and human rights law and related statutes and jurisprudence
