About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical assessment, planning, and implementation of prevention and early intervention programming for adolescents at-risk for or who have mild substance use and/or mental health problems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of harm reduction, population health, community development, health promotion, and prevention principles. They will also possess excellent interviewing skills, suicide risk assessment, and group facilitation skills.

We are looking for a candidate who is knowledgeable about health promotion/population health framework, harm reduction, community development, strengths-based methods, and readiness to change model. They should also have experience with screening, brief/early intervention, outreach, and community linkages for youth at-risk for substance use and/or mental health problems.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team to provide a wide range of services in schools and communities, including screening, assessment, supportive counseling, referral, case navigation/management, early/brief intervention, outreach, and group programming.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who has a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, is registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work, and has two years' experience working with adolescents at-risk, community resources, harm reduction, and substance use.

The ideal candidate will have experience with interviewing skills, suicide risk assessment, and group facilitation. They should also have in-depth knowledge of health promotion/population health framework, harm reduction, community development, strengths-based methods, and readiness to change model.

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. Occasional evening and weekend shifts are required, and travel to various sites is necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $42.89 per hour. They may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
