BSW Social Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions team, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to adults and their families affected by Opioid Use Disorder and other concurrent mental and substance use disorders.
The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will be responsible for navigating, advocating, and coordinating resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, preferably with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. You should have a minimum of one year of clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions, with skills in screening and risk assessment, including Suicide Risk Assessment. You should also have a working knowledge of the DSM and be able to implement an evidence-based plan of care.
The ideal candidate will have excellent assessment skills, the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations, and offer crisis support. You should also have group facilitation skills, the ability to use motivational interviewing skills, and engage with clients and families. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
