Job Summary:

The Nurse Specialist - Cardiology Intensive Care Unit will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a member of the hospital's code blue team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional care to patients with complex medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families, promoting health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic and integrated care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Related experience and a strong desire to succeed in a critical care environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to problem-solve and organize in a fast-paced workflow.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and sustained posture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CLS certification.
  • Recent experience in advanced dysrhythmia and 12-lead ECG interpretations, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and intra-aortic balloon pump.
