Job Title: Rehabilitation Therapist Support Specialist


About the Role:


We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Rehabilitation Therapist Support Specialist to join our team at Runnymede Healthcare Centre.


Job Summary:


The successful candidate will provide support to Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Kinesiologists in delivering patient care, including carrying out delegated patient treatment as prescribed by therapists, assisting with patient-related activities, and performing various tasks under therapist direction.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions under OT, PT, and/or Kin direction, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients;
  • Monitor and progress patient therapy within directed ranges, maintaining accurate records of patient progress;
  • Transfer, ambulate, and transport patients safely, supervising exercise programs as assigned by therapists;
  • Position patients, perform range of motion exercises, and apply modalities as directed by OT, PT, and/or Kin;
  • Train patients in Activities of Daily Living under OT supervision, promoting independence and self-care skills;
  • Assemble assistive technology, train patients in use under OT direction, and provide assistance to therapists during treatment;
  • Transport patients to and from therapy areas, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals;

Requirements:


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A degree from a recognized Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant program;
  • Experience working in Rehabilitation/Complex Continuing Care or Acute Care Hospital settings;
  • Previous experience working with seniors in a healthcare setting under OT, PT, and/or Kin direction;
  • Demonstrated experience working with geriatric, neurological, and MSK conditions;
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a safe and efficient workflow;
