Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Specialist to join our dynamic team at the Reactivation Care Centre Unit 4 & 5. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out prescribed rehabilitation therapy programs under the direction of an occupational or physical therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out exercise programs with patients on an individual or group basis and assist with gait training as prescribed by the physiotherapist.
  • Perform patient transfers and demonstrate safe lifting techniques and proper body mechanics to nursing staff and patients' families as instructed by the therapist.
  • Conduct ADL training with patients to facilitate independence as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
  • Lead occupational therapy activity groups under the supervision of an occupational therapist once or twice weekly.
  • Assist patients in setting up strength training equipment.
  • Record statistics and maintain equipment inventory.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Diploma from an accredited community college Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) program.
  • Experience working in a medical in-patient acute setting and/or related experience working with geriatric population in rehabilitation setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervising therapists.
  • Experience leading group sessions and motivating patients to participate.
  • Experience working in a physically demanding, fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Ability to apply physiotherapeutic modalities.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.
