Job Title: Child Protection Social Worker

Join the Government of Prince Edward Island in a rewarding career as a Child Protection Social Worker. As a delegated child protection social worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations and assessments of child protection reports to determine if a child is in need of protection.
  • Provide child protection services in accordance with the Child Protection Act.
  • Mentor and provide case direction to less experienced Child Protection Social Workers and non-Social Workers.
  • Develop clinical assessments and construct service plans to ensure children's safety and enhance parental functioning.
  • Collaborate with service providers and the community to develop and enhance client resources.
  • Prepare cases for legal interventions and represent the Director of Child Protection in Court.
  • Prioritize and effectively manage caseload expectations.
  • Provide leadership, act in supervisor's absence, and provide consultation and training for new staff and students.
  • Provide after-hours emergency child protection coverage on a rotation basis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
