Corporate Functions Compliance Program Lead

We are seeking a seasoned compliance professional to lead our Corporate Functions Compliance program. In this role, you will be responsible for managing ongoing compliance activities and strategies, ensuring adherence to governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

About the Role:

  • This is a senior leadership position within the Compliance team, reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Functions Compliance.
  • As a key member of the Corporate Functions team, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement effective compliance strategies.
  • Your expertise in risk management, information technology, and audit will be invaluable in identifying and mitigating risks associated with current and evolving regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the development of a comprehensive compliance framework that ensures a consistent approach to managing compliance programs across Corporate Functions.
  2. Maintains awareness of emerging regulatory trends and updates compliance programs accordingly.
  3. Liaises with various teams, including Enterprise Compliance Reporting, Business Line Compliance, and Enterprise Compliance Operations, to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination.
  4. Oversees the development and maintenance of CF Standard policies and procedures, ensuring they remain aligned with regulatory requirements.
  5. Promotes a culture of compliance within Corporate Functions by providing guidance and support to employees on compliance-related matters.
  6. Contributes to the overall success of Scotiabank's Compliance program by sharing knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a related field (e.g., Risk Management, Information Technology, or Audit) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in risk management, information technology, or audit, preferably in a large complex matrix institution with a global footprint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and implement solutions to complex issues.
  • Strong project management, research, and analytical skillsets, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing regulatory and business environments.
