Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this Registered Practical Nurse position is between $85,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Practical Nurse (Permanent Night Shift) at Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care. As a Unit Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high quality nursing service that reflects the organization's resident centred approach, vision and policies. You will also supervise unregulated staff and students in the unit and provide direct resident care with interdisciplinary team members as well as communications with families.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered Practical Nurse with current Certificate of Competence in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario. Specialization in Gerontology an asset.
  • Previous experience in a long term care setting
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Good leadership skills
  • Proven clinical experience with a resident-centred care focus, from assessment, to education and documentation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality care and safety. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgement in assessing and prioritizing situations at hand, and multi-tasking different priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbally and in writing) and presentation skills to internal and external clients/residents
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional and interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to mentor and/or support colleagues and students
  • Computer literacy. Experience with RAI-MDS an asset
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese an asset; Knowledge of Filipino language required for some units
