About the Position

The University of Lethbridge invites applications for the position of Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. The Faculty of Arts and Science is seeking an exceptional scholar to strengthen our research capacity in machine learning and AI with applications to any discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish an internationally recognized research program in machine learning and AI
  • Obtain competitively awarded external research funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and other granting agencies
  • Train the next generation of scientists and innovators through a vibrant, innovative, and collaborative research program

Requirements:

  • Established research portfolio in machine learning and AI
  • Ability to build a research program that attracts outstanding graduate students and post-doctoral fellows
  • Strong research mentorship experience and teaching philosophy
  • Experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization within research practices

Application Requirements:

  • Letter of application
  • Three of the applicant's most influential publications (or other research contributions)
  • Comprehensive Canada Research Chair vision statement and research plan (no longer than 5 pages)
  • Statement (no longer than 3 pages) emphasizing research mentorship experience, teaching philosophy, and experiences in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization within research practices
